Seed Saving

Food ~ Flowers ~ Herbs

Here is a short list of seeds I have been working on saving.

I started growing plants that were food crops in my early 20s. It started with some tomato plants growing in the backyard as volunteers. I thought that moving them from the back corner of the yard to an area that could be set for a raised bed would yield a bumper crop of tomatoes. I dug them out of the overgrown area they were in with the hopes of not killing the root growth.

There were at least a half dozen little spouts that were maybe 18-24 inches tall, so worst care scenario I could try a few times. The first six I moved all took to the transplanting and improvement of sunlight with great vigor. Within a few weeks, the plants had been noticeably larger, and off I went down this rabbit hole of fascination with growing food crops.

Cosmos sulphureus – A staple in my seed collection since 2013. Read more here….
