What I enjoy about this plant is the amount of color and size variation. Some of these plants spread with aggressive vigor through rhizomes, as well as prolifically through seed. With growth habits like this, it is often considered an invasive species. I think that this can be true under certain conditions, I strongly believe that a better label would be a pioneer species. The context of how it is used, and the functions it provides is also what make this such a versatile plant to use in the background.
